Installed in a high altitude coniferous forest, small mirrored trap-like devices are set for capturing prey. Propped open to reveal an alluring red interior, words such as Prey or Lure or Bait are embroidered on the interior fabric. These objects of enticement mimic pheromone insect traps. In scientific applications, pheromone traps use highly species-specific sex pheromones to lure insects, whether for population counts or to detect and trap invading or exotic species.
